Camp Tamarack!

Even though our day at camp was a little cold and rainy we had a blast!

ANIMAL ADAPTATIONS:

Fifth grade loved seeing and feeling the different types of reptiles found at Camp Tamarack!

T'AMAZING RACE:
Each group was challenged to work together to figure out clues and tasks! From archery to acting these kids did a great job during the T'Amazing race!

Crossroads of Michigan

I am so proud of the fourth and fifth grade students. In March all three classes worked together to collect food and hygiene items. I am recently received a letter from the Crossroads of Michigan organization thanking our students for their donations. They did a wonderful job helping others in need.

Marvelous March!

This month the fifth and fourth grade students are collecting food and hygiene products for a local charity. We are excited to put our Faith in Action for Crossroads of Michigan! During Lent we are working towards praying more and helping others. Fifth grade students also presented Stations of the Cross last Friday and did a wonderful job! My students also have been working hard to submit essays in various writing competitions. The latest essay was about students overcoming barriers in their lives. The essays were outstanding and very touching. We are looking forward to going to Camp Tamarack in April and going on a retreat in May! We can't believe how fast this year is flying by!

Trade Fair

Each year fifth grade students have a trade fair day. This activity is created to simulate trading and bartering in earlier times. It also gets students involved in effectively advertising their products. As always I was more than impressed with their creations! After the trade fair we held a discussion on how it went. The fifth graders amazed me with the strong connections they made to economics and the trading life of early settlers.I am so proud of my class' accomplishments!
Before we began trading the fifth graders set up their products!

Valentine's Day Recycled Bag Contest!

Each year fifth grade students have the option of collecting their valentine's in a revamped plastic bag! Students get very creative on how to change an already existing bag into a recycled piece of art. I love seeing what they come up with each year.

This plastic bag card holder was similiar to a kangaroo! The cards were placed in the front pouch!

February News

Fifth graders are working hard this week to create enticing advertisements for their trade fair products. The will be advertising their ideas this week in an interview and the trade fair will be held next Thursday.

We are also looking forward to our student mass that will be held this Thursday. My students are doing a nice job practicing this week.

We will also begin brainstorming for a Lenten project!

                                                                       Kickball Game

Fifth graders had a blast celebrating Catholic School's Week! My class loved playing kickball with the other classes and did a beautiful job working together as a team. We also enjoyed donating used books and canned goods to help others. The whole week was a great reflection on why we love Catholic education!

Catholic School's Week

The fifth graders and I are very excited about this year's Catholic School's Week. All we long we are celebrating how wonderful it is to attend a Catholic School. Our service projects include a used book drive, a canned food job, and making cards for those we care about! We are also dressing up in wacky ways! We are so lucky to go to SPS!

A fabulous fifth grade performance!

The fifth grade students were amazing in this year's Christmas program. It was obvious all the hard work and practice paid off when the fifth grade penguins sang, danced, and played their recorders! I was amazed to see all of my students who are in the drama club act in the play so well! It was a great way to celebrate the Christmas season! It was a beautiful performance this year! Well done!

January Times

Wow! The fifth grade year is flying by! My class has returned very rested for break and is getting back into their daily routine. We are currently working on writing an opinion paper where the students must decide if they would rather live with Native Americans or explorers in early times. We are also preparing to make cards for the home bound. Stay tuned for pictures from our upcoming pictures from our Trade Fair Day in February!
