Christmas Break
Wow! I cannot believe that the first part of the school year is rapidly coming to an end. I have enjoyed my time at St. Pius so much, and would like to thank everyone for making me feel welcome. The upcoming week we will finish our poetry unit, and create a wonderful poetry book. On Friday, December 17th we have a 1/2 day. The 17th will also be the Chrismtas party. We will be watching a movie and having a few treats. The students will also participate in a Classroom Secret Santa! Classes will resume on January 3rd. I hope everyone enjoys their holiday break, and New Year! May God be with you, and your families over the Christmas Season!

Waiting for the show to begin.
Practice makes perfect!
I would like to take the time to thank our 5th grade students! They did a wonderful job at the Christmas Concert Thursday night. I am very proud of the hardwork the class put into learning the songs, and playing their recorders! It was a beautiful show, and really put everyone in the Christmas spirit!

Coney's Play Date.
Detroit Science Center
Our class trip to the Detroit Science Center was a blast! The 4th and 5th grade students were able to explore various hands on activities. Some of our favorites were, the music room (sound waves), the exercise machines, the luminary room, and electricity! We were also a part of a recycling lesson. The students and parents were able to see the importance of recycling and composting! We also, had a great time while watching shows on engineering and electricity!

Camp Tamarack!
Our Field Trip to Camp Tamarack was amazing! The class and I had a wonderful day full of animals, nature and pioneer life! The first part of the day the students and I attended the, "Living Science," lesson. During this we were able to hold and touch various animals. Next, we went on the T'Amazing Race. During this exercise students had to work in teams to complete a race. It was really fun to watch their archery and problem solving skills. The last part of the day we went to Smokelerville. In this village from the 1800's the students reenacted pioneer families. The parents did a wonderful job role playing parts of the townspeople. We had everything from an Indian to a fur trapper! Overall, the 5th graders had a great time! Thanks again to everyone who helped out!
